When a task is left unfinished, the human mind has a tendency to prserve it. We can’t stop thinking about it. When we are finished the task, it bascially goes away.

This can be one of the reasons that we feel so frazzled with unfinished tasks that we cannot complete immediately. And, almost certainly, this is the psychological basis for a large part of Getting Things Done. Closing loops especially.

However, by scratching the itch so easily, we are possibly short-circuiting a critical part of the process. If we don’t plan, our mind thinks that we haven’t really done anything.
